Description:
* WHAT...Hot conditions with high temperatures up to 85 to 90
degrees expected and low temperatures from 58 to 62 degrees. This
will pose a moderate risk of heat-related illness.
* WHERE...Eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca, Foothills and Valleys of
the North Cascades, Lake Crescent Area Including US 101, Lowlands
of Western Skagit and Northwestern Snohomish Counties, Lowlands of
Western Whatcom County, Northern Hood Canal, and Port Townsend
Area.
* WHEN...From 10 AM Tuesday to 11 PM PDT Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Heat will significantly increase the risk of
heat-related illnesses for those who are sensitive to heat,
especially those without effective cooling or adequate hydration.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Areas closest to the water will experience
cooler daytime high temperatures.
Instruction:
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and
pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
