Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE...Portions of southwest Virginia, including the following
county, Giles and southeast West Virginia, including the following
counties, Mercer, Monroe and Summers.
* WHEN...Until 600 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 330 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Adair Run, Brush Creek, Lick Creek, Little Island Creek,
Hales Branch, East River, Island Creek, Daves Fork, New
River, Hackett Creek, Big Spring Branch and Crooked Creek.
Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
expected through the next hour. Additional showers and storms
may return around 430 PM EDT.

Instruction:
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
