At 435 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Highland Springs, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Reduced visibility and minor flooding possible. Frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes. Locations impacted include... Richmond, New Kent, King William, Talleysville, Mechanicsville, Highland Springs, Tunstall, Manquin, East Highland Park, Bottoms Bridge, Studley, Elko, Cohoke, Montrose, Sandston, Westwood, Richmond International, Colonial Downs, Fair Oaks, and Palls.
Instruction: 
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Heavy rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM EDT for central and east central Virginia.
