Description:
* WHAT...Dry wash and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected in Lower Sigurd Canyon.
* WHERE...A portion of central Utah, including the following county,
Sevier.
* WHEN...Until 515 PM MDT.
* IMPACTS...Rises in small streams and normally dry washes in lower
Sigurd Canyon along HW 24 between milepost 11 and 14.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 322 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause dry wash and small stream
flooding, with some debris potentially reaching HW 24.
Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen.
- Lower Sigurd Canyon is the most likely place to experience
minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Sigurd.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
