Description:
At 536 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Butner, or 8 miles west of Creedmoor, moving east at 25 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Durham, Butner, Rougemont, Stem, Lake Michie, Lake Butner, Gorman,
Bahama, Eno River State Park, and Falls Lake.
This includes Interstate 85 between Mile Markers 181 and 191.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for
central North Carolina.
