At 651 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 10 miles northwest of Columbus, or 4 miles south of Bat Cave, moving southwest at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Chimney Rock Village, Chimney Rock State Park, Bat Cave, Lake Lure, Dana, and Edneyville.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
