* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Northeastern Henderson County in western North Carolina... * WHEN...Until 1015 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Overflowing poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 615 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.7 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Edneyville. - Locations along and near Clear Creek, northwest of Edneyville and north of Hwy 64, may already be experiencing nuisance flooding in poor drainage areas and low-water crossings. Affected roadways may include but are not limited to Bearwallow Mtn Rd, Old Clear Creek Rd, and Rhodes Rd. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
