Description:
At 409 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Schenevus, or 12 miles southeast of Cooperstown, moving east at 25
mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Jefferson, Gilboa, Summit, North Blenheim, Breakabeen, Conesville,
Baird Corners, Lutheranville, Broome Center, West Fulton, Five
Corners, Arabia, Four Corners, West Conesville, Eminence, Housons
Corners, West Jefferson, Beards Hollow, South Jefferson, and South
Gilboa.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for
east central New York.
