Description:
At 837 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 8 miles north of Caroga Lake to near Caroga
Lake Public Campground to Ephratah. Movement was east at 55 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Saratoga Springs, Gloversville, Johnstown, Ballston Spa, Corinth,
Ephratah, Broadalbin, Hagaman, Edinburg, Northville, Mayfield,
Galway, Cranberry Creek, Northampton Beach Public Campground, Caroga
Lake, Rock City Falls, Caroga Lake Public Campground, North Ballston
Spa, Kings, and Mount Pleasant.
People attending Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) should seek
safe shelter immediately!
This includes Interstate 87 between exits 13S and 16.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
If on or near Caroga Lake or southern portion of the Great Sacandaga
Lake, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle.
Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent
thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be
struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on
the water in a thunderstorm.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for
eastern and east central New York.
