Description: 
At 251 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Mainly rural areas of Bernalillo, Northwestern Torrance and Eastern Valencia Counties, including the Manzano mountains and western foothills.
Instruction: 
Do not camp along streams and rivers. Remain alert when hiking in steep, narrow canyons. Know where you are relative to low spots and drainages. Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create sudden and dangerous flows in arroyos and over low water crossings.
