Description:
At 605 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles northwest of Archuleta, or 11 miles east of Aztec. The storm is
moving west at 15 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning,
and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Bloomfield, Aztec, Cedar Hill, Turley, Flora Vista and Archuleta.
This includes the following highways...
Highway 550 between Mile Markers 151 and 174. Highway 64 between Mile
Markers 59 and 69.
Instruction:
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
Motorists can expect brief but sudden changes in visibility and
ponding of water on roadways as storms move through the area. Water
will begin to flow rapidly through normally dry arroyos and washes.
