Description:
At 1242 AM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms near Fort Robinson State Park, or 30 miles west of
Chadron, moving northeast at 45 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph, nickel size hail, and brief heavy
downpours over the South Fork Burn Scar.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vegetation. Burn scar flooding is
possible near Fort Robinson.
Locations impacted include...
Crawford, Whitney Lake, Soldier Creek Campground, Montrose, Fort
Robinson State Park, and Toadstool Geological Park and Campground.
Instruction:
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead
to localized flooding, especially in the south fork burn scar west
of Fort Robinson State Park. Do not drive your vehicle through
flooded roadways.
This storm may intensify again, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional
information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
