Description:
At 432 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles west of Pontotoc. This thunderstorm was nearly stationary.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
New Albany, Pontotoc, Ecru, New Harmony, Randolph, Thaxton, Algoma,
Toccopola, Shari, Hortontown, Poolville, Esperanza, Cherry Creek, Old
Myrtle, Pannell, Rough Edge, Glenfield, Wallfield, Nixon, and Union
Hill.
This includes Interstate 22 in Mississipppi between mile markers 61
and 72.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
