Description:
At 724 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain across the warned area. Between 4 and 8 inches of rain have
fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible in
the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Ville Platte, Bunkie, Simmesport, Morrow, Bayou Current,
Cottonport, Evergreen, Plaucheville, Big Cane, Goudeau,
Whiteville, Lebeau, Dupont, Grand Prairie, Indian Lake, Chicot
State Park and St. Landry.
Use extreme caution and stay at home unless absolutely necessary.
Rainfall is tapering off from the southwest, however with this much
rainfall it will take time to drain.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams.
Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
