Description:
At 257 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms along a line extending from 6 miles northeast of Walker
to near Whitehall. Movement was northeast at 15 mph.
HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Hammond, Greensburg, Amite, Ponchatoula, Walker, Amite City,
Livingston, Independence, Roseland, Albany, Springfield, Montpelier,
Natalbany, Robert, Whitehall, Killian, and Tickfaw.
This includes the following Interstates...
Interstate 12 between mile markers 18 and 50.
Interstate 55 in Louisiana between mile markers 15 and 53.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
