Description:
At 313 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms along a line extending from near Westlake to near Lake
Charles to near Lebleu Settlement. Movement was north at 5 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to vegetation and outdoor
objects is possible.
Locations impacted include...
Lake Charles, Sulphur, Westlake, Iowa, Lake Charles Regional Airport,
Moss Bluff, Topsy, Lebleu Settlement, and Gillis.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 23 and 43.
Interstate 210 between mile markers 1 and 12.
Instruction:
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
