Description:
At 249 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms 8 miles north of Garyville, or 8 miles north of
Reserve, moving southeast at 15 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 to 50 mph and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Reserve, Hahnville, Laplace, Gramercy, Lutcher, Killona, Norco,
Montz, Edgard, North Vacherie, Garyville, Wallace, Taft, New Sarpy,
Whitehall, Destrehan, and Killian.
This includes the following Interstates...
Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 191 and 217.
Interstate 55 in Louisiana between mile markers 1 and 8.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
If on or near marine areas, get out of the water and move indoors or
inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from
the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close
enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be
caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
