Description:
Rainfall this afternoon of up around 3 inches has lead to a rapid
rise in the South Fork on the Republican River. Rapid in bank rises
are occurring.
* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected.
* WHERE...Along the South Fork on the Republican River in West
Central Cheyenne County in northwestern Kansas...
* WHEN...Until 300 AM CDT Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. River or stream flows are
elevated.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 839 PM CDT, the public reported heavy rain in the advisory
area due to thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding.
Rapid river rises will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rain is
possible later tonight.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
St. Francis.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
