* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northeast Illinois, including the following county, Kane. * WHEN...Until 600 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Roads, streets, and underpasses may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 247 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing torrential rainfall over the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen over portions of northern Kane County. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch, locally up to 2 inches, are expected over portions of the advisory area. Runoff from the rain that has fallen and the additional rain will result in areas of flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Elgin, Carpentersville, Algonquin, Huntley, Campton Hills, South Elgin, Pingree Grove, Gilberts, West Dundee, Hampshire, Elburn, Barrington Hills, Sleepy Hollow, East Dundee, Maple Park, Lily Lake, Burlington and Virgil. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

A Flood Advisory means minor flooding along waterways and other poor drainage areas is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons in the advisory area should use caution and avoid flood waters. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
