Description:
At 619 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 9
miles south of Clemson, or near Lake Hartwell, moving southwest at 10
mph. Additional storms may develop out ahead of the current area of
thunderstorms through 715 PM EDT.
HAZARD...Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph and up to half inch hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Hartwell, Reed Creek, Lake Hartwell, Townville, Fair Play, Oakway,
and Sadlers Creek State Park.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
If on or near Lake Hartwell, it is advisable to get out of the water
and move indoors or inside a vehicle as storms approach. Remember,
lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm.
If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by
lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water
in a thunderstorm.
