Description:
At 422 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8
miles northwest of Clayton, or 7 miles north of Lake Burton, moving
west at 10 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Lake Burton.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
If on or near Lake Burton, it is recommended to get out of the water
and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike
out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear
thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. It is best
to move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a
thunderstorm.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for
northeastern Georgia.
