Description:
At 608 PM MST, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 6 miles northeast of Magma to near Coolidge.
Movement was northwest at 20 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Apache Junction, Florence, Coolidge, East
Mesa, Gold Canyon, Sun Lakes, Queen Creek, La Palma, San Tan Village
Mall, San Tan Valley, Seville, Freestone Park, Florence Junction,
Queen Valley, Bapchule, Olberg, and Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport.
This includes the following highways...
AZ Interstate 10 between mile markers 173 and 184.
US Highway 60 between mile markers 185 and 197, and between mile
markers 201 and 219.
AZ Route 87 between mile markers 126 and 161.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until
these storms pass.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM MST for
south central and southeastern Arizona.
