Description:
At 227 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Alpine, or near Childersburg, moving west at 10 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Chelsea, Childersburg, Wilsonville, Vincent, Harpersville, Westover,
Bon Air, Alpine Bay Resort, Winterboro, Alpine, Vandiver, Coosa
Island, Logan Martin Dam, Logan Martin Lake, Country Club Estates,
and Sterrett.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM CDT for
central and east central Alabama.
