Southwestern New Haven County in southern Connecticut...
* Until 400 PM EDT.
* At 1257 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between
1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is
1 to 2.5 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3
inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already
occurring.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
producing flash flooding.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

New Haven, Milford, Wallingford, Shelton, Guilford, Hamden,
Stratford, Trumbull, Branford, North Haven, Monroe, Seymour, North
Branford, Orange, Derby, Woodbridge, Bethany, West Haven, East
Haven and Ansonia.
Instruction:
Move to higher ground now! This is a dangerous and life-threatening
situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area
subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
If you are in a basement, be prepared to move to a higher floor.
Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
