* WHAT...Heavy snow and widespread blowing snow. Additional snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...In Minnesota, Wilkin County. In North Dakota, Ransom, Richland, and Sargent Counties. * WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Heavy snow amounts, near blizzard conditions, and significant drifting will make travel dangerous and potentially impossible.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1. Persons should delay all travel if possible. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for sudden changes in visibility. Leave plenty of room between you and the motorist ahead of you, and allow extra time to reach your destination. Avoid sudden braking or acceleration, and be especially cautious on hills or when making turns. Make sure your car is winterized and in good working order. Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you survive in case you become stranded.
