Description: 
At 721 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over I66 and I495 Interchange, or over Falls Church, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...A wind gust of 67 mph was observed at Dulles International Airport at 653 pm. IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles. Locations impacted include... Annandale, Fairfax, Vienna, Falls Church, Mantua, Pimmit Hills, Mclean, Burke, Oakton, Tysons Corner, Wolf Trap, Merrifield, I66 and I495 Interchange, West Springfield, Fairfax Station, Dunn Loring, Ravensworth, West Mclean, and Belleview.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
