South central Starr County in Deep South Texas... * Until 715 PM CDT. * At 617 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near La Grulla, or 8 miles southwest of Los Ebanos, moving north at 20 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. * Locations impacted include... Rio Grande City, Palmview, Penitas, Sullivan City, La Joya, Palmhurst, Garciasville, Los Ebanos, Alton, and La Grulla.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Prepare immediately for large hail and deadly cloud to ground lightning. Seek shelter inside a well-built structure. Stay away from windows. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will send your report to the National Weather Service office in Brownsville. Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers.
