The National Weather Service in Amarillo has issued a * Dust Advisory for... Central Randall County in the Panhandle of Texas... Southeastern Potter County in the Panhandle of Texas... * Until 430 PM CDT. * At 303 PM CDT, a dust channel was over Mescalero Park, or 6 miles north of Canyon, moving north at 30 mph. HAZARD...Less than one half mile visibility with strong wind in excess of 40 mph. SOURCE...Satellite Imagery. IMPACT...Hazardous travel. This is impacting areas around Canyon up along I-27 into central Amarillo. Locations impacted include... Amarillo, Canyon, Lake Tanglewood, Mescalero Park, and Timbercreek Canyon.

Blowing dust brings reduced visibility, leading to dangerous driving conditions. If driving, avoid blowing dust if possible. If caught in dense blowing dust, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake.
