At 554 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms near Etowah, or 7 miles south of Athens, moving northeast at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Athens, Sweetwater, Madisonville, Decatur, Etowah, Charleston, Englewood, Vonore, Niota, and Calhoun.
Instruction: 
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. This storm may intensify, so closely monitor for additional information or possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
