At 400 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Daniels, or near Beckley, moving northeast at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Beckley, Sophia, Crab Orchard, Macarthur, Shady Spring, Beaver, Daniels, Coal City, and Meadow Bridge. This includes the following highways... West Virginia Turnpike between mile markers 33 and 41. Interstate 64 in West Virginia between mile markers 120 and 137.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for southeastern West Virginia.
