Expected
Effective:
March 16, 2026 - 7:28pm
Expires:
March 17, 2026 - 2:00am
Description:
An area of precipitation is forecast to develop across western
and central North Dakota late tonight into Tuesday morning. Most
of the precipitation could fall as snow, with high chances for at
least one inch of accumulation along and east of Highway 83.
However, there could also be a period of light freezing rain
after the snow ends, and far western parts of the state could just
see light freezing rain. The western half of the state has medium
chances for at least a glaze of ice accumulation through Tuesday
morning, with lower chances to the east.
The snow and freezing rain could make roads very slick for the
Tuesday morning commute. Be sure to allow extra time to reach
your destination, and check the latest road conditions before
departing. Do not use cruise control when driving on icy roads,
and leave plenty of stopping distance ahead of you. Temperatures
are expected to quickly warm above freezing from west to east
from mid Tuesday morning through the afternoon.
