Description:
At 215 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Tipton to near West Branch to near Hills.
Movement was east at 30 mph.
HAZARD...Nickel size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.
Locations impacted include...
Iowa City, Tipton, West Branch, Durant, Coralville, University
Heights, Hills, Bennett, Rochester, Buchanan, Newport, Cedar Valley,
Johnson County Fairgrounds, Bennett Park, Sunbury, Tipton Matthews
Airport, West Overlook, Cedar County Fairgrounds, Coralville Lake Dam
Complex, and Springdale.
This includes Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 242 and 278.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is occurring and may lead to localized flooding.
Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 300 AM CDT for
east central Iowa.
