WHAT...Strong winds generally from the south to southwest at 15
to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph, dry surface vegetation, and low
relative humidity between 25 to 35 percent will lead to elevated
fire danger this afternoon.
WHERE...All of central Iowa.
WHEN...Now through 7 PM.
IMPACTS...Any fires that ignite could spread rapidly.
PREPAREDNESS AND PRECAUTIONARY ACTIONS...Burning is discouraged under
these conditions. Also, take care to prevent the start of accidental
fires when smoking or operating vehicles around dry vegetation.
