Description:
At 229 PM HST, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms over the Puna District and in Kau near Pahala and
Wood Valley. These storms were nearly stationary.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Naalehu, Kalapana, Orchidlands Estates, Nanawale Estates, Kurtistown,
Hawaiian Paradise Park, Kawa Flats, Leilani Estates, Pahoa, Isaac
Hale Beach Park, Hawaiian Acres, Waiohinu, Glenwood, Fern Forest,
Hawaiian Beaches, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Volcano, Discovery
Harbour, Pahala, and Wood Valley.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
