Description: 
At 1001 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 6 miles northwest of Canning to 8 miles west of Intersection of Highway 83 and White River. Movement was south at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Pierre, Fort Pierre, Murdo, Vivian, Draper, Okaton, Westover, Grey Goose, Rousseau, Intersection of Highway 83 and White River, Canning, Wendte, Overlook Rec Area, and Degrey Rec Area.
Instruction: 
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service office in Aberdeen. Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until these storms pass. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 100 AM CDT for central South Dakota.
