Description:
At 1151 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Letcher to near Loomis to 10 miles west of Ethan,
moving east at 40 mph.
HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail.
SOURCE...Public. At 1131 PM CDT, a 67 mph wind gust was reported
5 miles west of Plankinton, SD.
IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile
homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
Locations impacted include...
Mitchell, Plankinton, Alexandria, Mount Vernon, Emery, White Lake,
Ethan, Stickney, Letcher, Carthage, Artesian, Fulton, Fedora, Loomis,
Roswell, Storla, Farmer, Aurora Center, and Grass Ranch Colony.
Instruction:
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 100 AM CDT for south central
and central South Dakota. A Tornado Watch also remains in effect
until 300 AM CDT for southeastern and east central South Dakota.
Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move to a shelter, inside a strong building and away from
windows.
