Description:
At 425 PM MDT, The first round of heavy rain is ending, but
additional thunderstorms and heavy rain is expected by 6 PM. Runoff
from the rainfall will continue to produce significant flash flooding
through the evening. The public has reported over 2 feet of water
over Highway 18.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE...Emergency management reported.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Oglala and locations on the southwestern side of the Pine Ridge
Reservation.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
