Effective:
March 19, 2026 - 11:27am
Expires:

Description:
* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 8 to 10 feet and dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...For the High Surf Advisory, north facing reefs of the Marianas. For the High Rip Current Risk, north and east facing reefs. * WHEN...Until 4 PM ChST this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Elevated long-period north to northeast swell, produced by distant mid-latitude frontal systems, will continue to produce hazardous surf along north facing reefs, and a high risk of rip currents along north and east facing reefs through this afternoon. The long-period swells are gradually subsiding and surf is decreasing, however, surf and rip risk will remain at elevated levels over the weekend, possibly hovering just below hazardous levels for north facing reefs. Additionally, minor coastal inundation along northern shorelines still remains possible through this afternoon, especially during times of high tide, although the overall threat has been diminishing.
Instruction:
Rip currents will be life threatening. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
