Description:
...RED FLAG WARNING FOR THE NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS AND NORTHEAST
PLAINS FROM NOON TO 7 PM MDT MONDAY DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW
HUMIDITY...
.Critical fire weather conditions are expected for northeast NM on
Monday. A lee-side surface trough over southeast Colorado will
lead to gusty south winds. Meanwhile, humidity values will lower
to around 15 percent through the late afternoon where very dry
fuels exist. Energy Release Components (ERCs) are near 90th
percentile values. This combination of these ingredients will
raise the risk of rapid fire spread. This includes Las Vegas,
Springer, Raton, Conchas Dam, Mosquero, Des Moines, and Clayton.
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag
Warning...which is in effect from noon to 7 PM MDT Monday. The
Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.
* AREA AND TIMING...Northeast Plains (Zone 104) and the Northeast
Highlands (Zone 123) on Monday from noon to 7 PM MDT.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...Sustained from the south at 20 to 30 mph with
occasional gusts to 40 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Dropping to 12 to 15 percent through the
late afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
