Description:
At 139 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from
near Cadiz to 16 miles southwest of Caldwell, moving east at 50 mph.
HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Law enforcement reported uprooted trees and power poles down
across Muskingum County.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
roofs, and outbuildings.
Locations impacted include...
Steubenville, St. Clairsville, Barnesville, Cadiz, Wellsburg,
Caldwell, Freeport, Toronto, Wintersville, Mingo Junction, Dudley,
Bethesda, Hopedale, Flushing, Smithfield and Scio.
Instruction:
Anyone outdoors should move to shelter inside a well-built structure
and stay away from windows. These storms have produced widespread
damaging winds and are capable of producing large hail.
Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can
hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
