At 1014 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8 miles north of Ansonville, or 10 miles south of Albemarle, moving east at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Ansonville, Norwood, Mount Gilead, Ellerbe, Candor, Norman, Uwharrie Haven, Covington, Pekin, and Lake Tillery. This includes Interstate 73 between Mile Markers 26 and 43.
