Description:
At 213 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 7 miles south of Lakeview to near Valentine to
10 miles east of Merritt Reservoir. Movement was east at 30 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Valentine, Crookston, Wood Lake, Smith Falls State Park, Schlagel
Creek State Wildlife Management Area, Highway 97 crossing the
Niobrara River, and Sparks.
This includes the following highways...
Highway 20 between mile markers 185 and 220.
Highway 97 between mile markers 127 and 141.
Highway 83 between mile markers 196 and 222.
Highway 12 between mile markers 1 and 21.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
