Description:
At 350 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from New Orleans to Woodmere. Movement was east at
15 mph.
HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
New Orleans, Chalmette, Marrero, Harvey, East New Orleans,
Timberlane, Belle Chasse, Gretna, Woodmere, Lake Catherine, Violet,
Terrytown, Meraux, Poydras, Estelle, and Arabi.
This includes the following Interstates...
Interstate 10 in Louisiana near mile marker 241, and between mile
markers 243 and 256.
Interstate 510 between mile markers 1 and 3.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
