Description:
Rainfall has ended but flooding still may be occurring or may
continue into late Friday morning. A wide area of heavy rainfall
lead to 2 and 5 inches of rainfall that has led to areal flooding.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of northeast Kansas, including the following
county, Jackson.
* WHEN...Until 900 AM CDT Friday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 212 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area.
Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in
the warned area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Whiting, Circleville, Netawaka and Soldier.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
