Effective:
June 4, 2026 - 10:54am
Expires:
June 5, 2026 - 5:00am
Description:
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Southwest into portions of central Iowa.
* WHEN...From 4 PM CDT this afternoon through Friday morning.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Storms are expected to increase in coverage this afternoon
into tonight and will be able to produce high rainfall rates
in a short period of time as they repeat over the same areas.
While soils have been dry recently, the high rates may exceed
the soil's ability to absorb the rainfall in the short period
of time. This may lead to flash flooding. This may be
especially true in portions of Adair, Greene, and Taylor
Counties, which have received rainfall in the past few days.
Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches with isolated higher amounts
are expected by sunrise Friday.
Instruction:
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
