Description:
At 615 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms near South Whitley, or 9 miles south of Columbia City,
moving east at 40 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Fort Wayne, South Whitley, Aboite, Roanoke, Zanesville, Laud, Nine
Mile, Goblesville, Bracken, Tunker, Raber, Washington Center, Mahon,
Rolling Hills, Luther, and Peabody.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 469 near mile marker 0, between mile markers 2 and 3, and
between mile markers 7 and 8.
Interstate 69 in Indiana between mile markers 294 and 304.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
