This approaches the flood of record. * WHERE...Kaskaskia River at Vandalia. * WHEN...Until Saturday evening. * IMPACTS...At 26.0 feet, The Dively and Vandalia Levees begin to be overtopped. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:30 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 26.4 feet and falling. - Recent Activity...The river rose above flood stage on the evening of April 27. It crested near 26.8 feet on April 29. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage Friday afternoon and continue falling over the coming days. - Flood stage is 18.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 26.4 feet on 02/08/1999.
