* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is expected or occurring.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1002 PM AKDT, water levels have risen significantly with
impacts to low lying fish camps and smokehouses. Smaller
outbuildings from camps were reported to be floating upstream
on the Andreafsky River. Observers have reported the highest
water since 1989. Until the breakup front moves farther
downstream, expect continued slow rises and potential
flooding of low-lying areas.
- Water levels had peaked at the Yukon River Pilot Station gage
at 33.76 feet Sunday afternoon and have begun to slowly drop
as of Sunday evening. The breakup front remains located
downriver of Mountain Village. It is moving slowly into the
remaining in-place ice. Plenty of high water is still pushing
down the river from the jam near Holy Cross a few days ago.
As the surge of high water moves downstream, it is causing
flooding in several communities along the Yukon.
- For Yukon River at Pilot Station:
At 7:45pm the stage was 33.5 feet.
