* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 530 PM AKDT Friday, The River Watch Team estimated the ice
jam is located several miles downstream of Marshall and is
causing water to back up into upstream communities. The ice
jam is backing up about 40 miles of chunk ice and has a
history of producing flooding at communities along the lower
Yukon River.
As of 10 PM AKDT Friday, a river gauge in Pilot Station
indicated water levels have risen by about 5 feet today with
rising levels resuming this evening. Additionally, multiple
reports of moving ice further downstream indicate potential
for the ice jam to release overnight. High river levels,
heavy ice runs, and additional ice jams may form resulting in
flooding potential in Pilot Station, St. Mary's, and Mountain
Village tonight.
- For Yukon River at Pilot Station:
At 10:00pm the stage was 30.2 feet.
