The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County * Until 1215 PM HST. * At 911 AM HST, emergency management reported heavy rain over the Kau and Puna Districts of the Big Island. Water was reported as ponding and rising on Highway 11 near mile marker 60. Radar indicated that rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Emergency management. IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road closures possible in some areas.
